Velda Lauder CorsetsVelda Lauder CorsetsOn graduating from the College of Design in Dublin, Velda Lauder was head hunted for the creative team at the world-renowned Brown Thomas store, as senior display artist and assistant fashion coordinator. Whilst there she designed her first clothing collection, won a Smirnoff Young Designer of Year Award, and joined the first Dublin based performance art group, Boutiques for Divisions. Her cosmic club night ‘Fantastic’ followed in 1998. Fusing live bands, fashion, and performance art, with a twist of fetish, London had rarely seen anything like it, and it was an overnight success. By 2000, Velda moved the central London shop to a huge loft space in trendy Hoxton. She developed her corset skills, creating her unique ‘Uber-Curve’ method of corset construction and tailoring. Velda re launched her Corset brand as ‘Velda Lauder Corsetiere’ with a fabulous evening in Soho. Vogue featured 5 corsets photographed by Mario Testino in a shoot with Nigella Lawson and Gordon Ramsey. Velda lauder has specialised on projects with high profile celebrities, such as Dita Von Teese, George Michael, and Robbie Williams film noir ‘Love Light’ featured 12 dancers dressed in Velda Lauder's military ‘Peace Warrior Collection’. October 2007, the Sugarbabes all wore Velda Lauders Designer Corsets, encrusted with Swarovski crystals for the finale of the Fashion Rocks event shown on Channel 4 Velda has been working on an annual end of year televised fashion show spectacular, and is creating new collections, with the ‘Classic Bespoke’, and a more accessible ‘Ready to Wear’ range. Velda Lauder Designs is a leading corsetry company in London offering a wide range of corsetry services including corsetry for wedding corsets, custom corsets, evening wear corsets, lingerie, couture corsetry, basques and steel boned corsets. Velda Lauder studied theatrical costume design in Ireland where she spent her time travelling between Dublin and London. She moved to London and quickly opened a shop in Soho and ran club 'fantastic' one of the most popular fetish clubs of the'90s- a fusion of fetish, gay and alternative music. The new collection is pure retro. Inspired by the classic movie brief encounter. It is the most tailored to date. Velda has remained true to her vision of resculpting the feminine form to create a strong, powerful, and above all glamorous silhouette. Evoking a resonance of 1940s Screen Starlets, her latest collection combines many of her previous obsessions creating a fusion of sexy lingerie and dramatic evening wear in vivid jewel colours, matt monochromatic, and sumptuous silks and as always a twist of humour trims the collection with lace and burlesque cheek! Dita Von Teese - the first to see the brief encounter grey and black collection has the complete look, The collection has also been worn by Charlotte Church and appeared in the George Michael Video “an easier affair” and adorned 12 of Robbie Williams dancers in his 'love light' video. The corsets have appeared on the cover of You magazine and in the 90th edition of Vogues Christmas 2006. Velda Lauder Corsetiere creates beautiful handmade corsets in unique and exquisite fabrics. Corsets that shape & sculpt the waist, reducing by four inches comfortably, without oppressing a woman's ribs or hips. Marilyn Monroe, Gina Lollobrigida, Sophia Loren: Wonderful curvy women, all size 16 plus, with stunning silhouettes, created by technically brilliant foundation garments. Velda's love of 40's and 50's movies has shaped her fascination with curve-creating garments, and lead to her philosophy "The gift of the corset is it’s ability to free the inner strength and beauty of a woman in an instant." Velda Lauder bespoke corsetry is all hand made in her London studio using the most luxurious materials and finishings. Her Ready to Wear line is also traditionally made from the highest quality materials and is manufactured entirely in Britain. GO TO TOP OF PAGE |
